The Cobalt won't crank, the cel never illuminates, power steering message, no power to pcm/ecm fuse under hood. No door chime. Radio and interior lights work fine (except front speakers of course) I have verified 12v and 5v at the ignition switch. Tried moving. now what it sounds like is the key has a sensor built in it the keys cost around 60.00$ but this is most likely what is wrong. the sensor is a security feature with the car if the light glows while trying to turn the car then this your problem :)

Most of the time just disconnecting the two connectors and re-connecting cleans them enough to clear BCM issues for a while. Cleaning and adding dielectric grease makes it last longer for sure.
