It really is the exhaust heat shields, extensive on the Subaru because the exhaust is directly under the engine. NO PROBLEM with ticking after shutdown. The world has had this same ticking with exhaust systems forever, but the Foz is worse because of the large number of heat shields on it.As you can tell, my normal style of driving is a bit harder on the accelerator hence the overall 28.8 mpg since I've had the XV.
