I get necromancer grass faster from the crosses (from merging up goblin graves) and from letting the grass from the ponds change. Harvesting those will give you dead grass and sometimes chests that will have dead trees, graveyards, bones, and grim seeds. Tapping haunted houses will sometimes give you dead trees. If you've time and space.. Let said trees spit out all their undead grass first (prism flowers), harvest the trees once or twice (wood/ chests etc) THEN merge.

You get the gold and occasional chests. Is there any level which give giant treasure chest .. can help in bunny request. You can get sunken chests by harvesting/tapping the grass wonder. Also get Noble chests by harvesting stonehenge although more rare. Sunken chests from watermelons. Grass, stone, fruit. You can sometimes get chests.
Just a word of warning - I got up to a level 9 Winter/Ice dragon and my game crashed recently erasing ALL of my level farms (had 4 advanced ones, lost probably +100 hours of game play), and support can do noting about it.
