Its so you can have different looks for different situations, there is no difference really, you can use 1 or all 3 and just change visibility (or change other settings like make them smaller if you want them for 40man, or make them big if its 10man and so on) They're set up so in a group of say, 6 to 10 people, it looks different than 11 to 20 ...
