Those are two very different things. Asurion had made it pretty clear they are not giving out severance because they have a job for everybody. If they are laying you off with no job offer or severance that is terrible. If they are just giving you a unattractive job, that sucks. If you really want to work for Assurant just take whatever Asurion ... The 300 fee is to cover the cost of the phone they shipped you, not to let you keep the damaged device. Asurion owns that device, they will black list it, and you can be held liable for insurance fraud if you sell or use it. The deductible with insurance is $250, and you're probably paying $15 a month for that "privilege". Again, if someone doesn't have the $479 emergency funds then I guess it's worth it, but insurance is a ripoff otherwise. That's $610 over two years with a single deductible. That's a massive waste of cash that you could be investing.
