As a the OP mentioned, they are very new to the game and I wouldn't recommend spending $140 just to save on the grind. With all the newer additions BSG have added, the grind isn't as bad anymore. The only thing EOD really gives you an advantage for is the safe container. 3x3 vs 2x4. EOD is the easy mode for Tarkov.
