I got a discount when I mentioned my previous rate. When I compared my renewal rate with the rate I paid 2 years ago upon joining, the current rate was higher. I called dentalplans.com and a wonderful guy named Nelson arranged for me to have a partial refund, making my renewal rate much closer to my original two year rate.
