It works wonderfully without adding barrel clamps that add time to cleaning or sling plates that create gaps and always seem to cause feeding problems. If you do get a clamp; I like CDM the best. One screw to remove and they come with pads to keep the clamp from ruining your finish.

The reliability issues have been pretty well worked out of all of them at this point (including the Mossberg 930) by the aftermarket. Every single model has a list of things that should be thrown at it for reliability.

The 940 has a little bit of difference with the gas system, but Mossberg started using Or3gun parts on the 940 from the get go. I still can't get the AA low recoil, low noise rounds to cycle reliably, but it eats everything else with no issues. My kids love shooting it, and will burn 100 rounds at a time.
