Honda accord whining noise when starting.
Hi everyone, I have a 2006 Honda Accord V6 AT currently at 97,000 miles and have noticed that there's a high pitched noise, that can be heard in the first video, that occurs more often during cold start up but will go away after several minutes of driving. The noise intensity can increase when turning the wheel as well as during acceleration.
Problem Description. The Honda Accord is known for premature alternator bearing failure. The alternator shaft bearing alerts of mechanical failure by making a howling or grinding noise, but other symptoms may appear, including: Battery warning light illumination. Engine will not start. Engine stalling or hesitation.If so then it is is probably engine related - power steering, alternator, etc. If it whines only when moving then it could be a wheel bearing or transmission related. It might not be an issue, it could just be the vents opening and closing. The noise is near the passenger seat foot-well. The air filter is behind the glove box, so it would make sense. If you listen to a clacking noise just when you start your car’s engine and it is more than 100,000 km long, it is plausible that some of your engine silentblocks or rubber mounts are good to be swapped. If you belts are loose at all, it may take them a while to warm up and grip the pulleys the way they are designed. This may or may not be resolved by replacing the drive belt tensioner. Cold fluids will also cause noises.

The typical repair of the power steering is the O-ring on the suction side. In cold weather it shrinks allowing air to be sucked in to the pump. The alternator will also make a whining sound as well. That is either a sign of a bad battery or a alternator on it's way out.
