I’ve gotten all of my shelter jobs by starting as a volunteer. I did an unpaid college internship. I was a political studies major and worked with a shelter veterinarian to get a state law passed. The law passed very early in my internship, so I spent the rest of my time at the shelter. I got hired after graduation.
