I use a coarse nail file to rough up the surface really well, then I cut thin cotton pads into triangles, soak them in Gelish Nail Remover, place a cotton triangle on each nail, then put the little plastic clips on each finger.

The one-coat-black for example, sure it may be opaque in one coat but it looks painful to apply. Something like China Glaze Liquid Leather is a great black - nice consistency and opaque at two coats. And it wouldn't take a lifetime to dry! The HT top coats as well ... they look super thick and bubbly.

Didn't know what the proper way was. I just file. I only clip my nails then file when they are really long and I need to shorten them significantly. I only file. I usually have longer nails but when they're short I just file. I'll clip to trim back my nails and then file when they're longer. I prefer to use glass files.
