The tuning and usability of the binary cam is so user friendly comared to the myriad of issues you can run into with the hybrid cam. I'm looking to go down to a 50# bow (old man with old shoulders, lol) and have not liked the recent offerings from Mathews at all. Last week I spent a while shooting my AU along side a used 50# Traverse I picked up and a new Phase 4 33 turned sown to 55#. I shot the new Hoyt VTM 31, Hoyt RX7, and the Bowtech Carbon One before trying the Phase4 29. I now have the Phase4 29 in subalpine and quite enjoy it. It is quiet, fast for my draw length and after a 4 hour session at Austin Archery Club I can say it was pleasant without any stress on my arms or shoulders. And it is very quiet.
I swore my next bow would be a Mathews after buying my son a Phase 4 this summer, it is such a smooth shooter. Well, that changed when I picked up an end of year VTM 34 for a great price. Hoyts have been a love hate for me. Love my ProForce but seem to fight my helix here and there. The VTM might replace both as I get more used to it.

The 80% mods will be "jumpier" due to a narrower valley. If your draw length is spot on this will be less noticeable. I switched from 85% to 80 because the western state I hunt each year is 80% max lefoff. I did have an acclimation period with the lower letoff but the change only affected how the bow felt to me.

I shot a matthews phase 4 29 and the new hoyt vtm 34 as well. My takeaway was I didn't like the way the matthews fit my hand. It felt a little top heavy, not crazy but kind of noticeable and could've used a back bar. The vtm 34 was awesome at anchor bc it felt less scrunched up but I could literally feel my pinky shake with the shot like vibrating.I like the Mathew’s phase 4 and Hoyt VTM with the Hoyt feeling slightly better. Mostly based on how it felt drawing back.
