Duramax ticking noise.

Ticking noise at idle. I have a 06 GMC Duramax and at idle, there is a constant loose sounding ticking noise. It does not sound like necessarily coming from the engine but in the front loser to the grill. Before I take it in and have looked at, I thought I would get someones opinion. It only happens while the truck is running and it's coming from the engine clearly herd from the wheel wells. It sounds like a hot exhaust cooling down and the crack/pop/ticks you get. I know it’s an old thread, but the L5P in the 2020 is the noisiest, most unpleasant Duramax to date. The thumping, ticking, screeching, and what I’m assuming is injector knock, is almost Unbearable. Can hear it easily when standing outside front or when listening near front wheel wells and from inside the truck. This is my 4th Duramax so I am familiar with all the ticking noise complaints but this is not a tick.

I put in the diesel fuel supplement in the grey bottle according mixture on the bottles directions to raise cetane level and lube injector pump and injectors. in one treatment ticking was gone and real noticeable power improvement. worked real well!!could possibly be the typewritter tick. I had this happen when I had my 2003, I thought it was my brake box, but I found out that if you have the climate control set to blow out the vents, which is all the way counter clockwise, it is like it is trying to move the door under the dash too far and I would get a clicking sound.That’s the “type writer tick”.
