Valvoline, Castrol, NAPA, etc. GL-5 gear lubes are all fine, there's not a gear lube sold at NAPA I wouldn't run. Personally I run Valvoline. A 75W-90, 80W-90, 70W-80, 80W-120, etc. are all fine... the axle is not fussy about its exact viscosity. Yea personally I would use 80w-90 or 75w-90 unless you just really bang on it hard. The days of 20w-50 for engines and 75w-140 for gears are long gone. Oils are so superior nowadays don't be afraid to use lighter grades if thats whats called for. It is a heavy-duty, gear-driven transfer case with a 23-spline input shaft. The case is cast iron but the tail housing is aluminum. The ID number C300-15 is stamped on the case. The output for the front drive shaft is on the right side and the rear output in line with the input. Low range is 2.62:1.

Seen enough of the 70s eat up the clutches by not adding enough slip lube. When I service any 70 or 80 min amount is 1 1/2 bottles in the 70 and 2 in the 80.I have always liked Mobil synthetic products. However, for our 1999 Jeep XJ Cherokee Dana 30 and Chrysler 8.25" axles with ARB Lockers, I use Mopar 75W-120 synthetic gear lube.
