I've read about people using ranger bands (inner tube) and electrical/duct tape. I've also heard of using shims made of aluminum foil. This all seems like a jury rigged semi-permanent solution to the problem. I was thinking about using a small, headless set screw through the handguard and butting it up against a tooth of the barrel nut.

1301 has a more adjustable rear ghost ring sight as it is adjustable for windage and elevation. it'll also most likely interchange with the A300. A300 sight is polymer/plastic.
